Volunteer Opportunity: Help Inspire Young Writers at Maria Sanchez School
Currently looking for volunteers to support our Book Contest Writing Workshops, which are part of the REACH Book Author Contest. These workshops help students in grades K through 5 begin developing their own books by understanding the contest theme, learning the writing process, and creating illustrations.
Workshop Purpose
Volunteers will help guide students as they:
- Understand the Mystery and Surprises theme and brainstorm story ideas
- Complete a “Map Out Your Story” worksheet (5W’s; beginning, middle, end)
- Create a mock-up of their book page by page
- Receive help with grammar, spelling, and typing
- Ensure their books have the correct amount of text and illustrations and are ready for submission by the March 12th deadline
