Cinestudio is seeking two motivated Independent Study Interns for the Fall 2025 semester. This internship allows students to earn academic credit while gaining real-world experience in arts management, marketing, social media, and event programming.

About Cinestudio: Cinestudio is a movie theater located on the campus of Trinity College. Opened in 1970 by two Trinity Students, Cinestudio remains one of the most highly regarded art house cinemas in the country. The nonprofit, single-screen theater boasts 450 seats and a beloved balcony, presenting independent, international, and classic films while serving as a hub for community conversation and cultural engagement. 

Position Overview: Cinestudio is seeking two motivated Independent Study Interns for the Fall 2025 semester. This internship allows students to earn academic credit while gaining real-world experience in arts management, marketing, social media, and event programming. 

Interns will split their time between in-theater responsibilities (at least 2 hours weekly) and project-based work (marketing, outreach, research, etc.). Each intern will have the chance to focus on areas of interest, with one emphasis on Marketing & Social Media and the other on Operations & Community Engagement. 

 Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Build brand awareness through social media content, email marketing, and outreach. 
  • Research and contact potential sponsors and community partners. 
  • Assist with Cinestudio events, screenings, and talkbacks, including greeting guests and supporting audience engagement. 
  • Research and reach out to filmmakers, directors, and actors to help coordinate post-film discussions and special programming. 
  • Support efforts to grow audiences through innovative programming ideas, outreach campaigns, and campus/community partnerships. 
  • Conduct audience surveys and compile data for reporting and grant purposes. 
  • Work on university and community engagement campaigns, including tabling and outreach. 
  • Contribute to website updates, membership services, and administrative projects. 

 Time Commitment & Expectations: 

  • Approximately 8–9 hours per week (aligned with the academic standard for one-credit independent study). 
  • At least 2 hours weekly on-site in Cinestudio, with additional project hours completed independently. 
  • Some evening/weekend availability required for screenings and events. 
  •  Use of personal computer equipment is required. 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Eligible for Trinity College Independent Study. 
  • Interest in film, communications, nonprofit management, or arts administration. 
  • Competence in oral and written communication. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms. 
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, brand management, or graphic design a plus. 
  • Comfortable engaging with the community by phone, email, and in-person. 
  • Energetic, reliable, and willing to take initiative.
