From May 18–August 15, 2026, Eversource will be conducting work on Vernon Street as part of the Underground Cable Modernization Program. Eversource, the electric utility serving Hartford, will be conducting this work as part of its Underground Cable Modernization Program (UCMP), a long‑term effort to modernize underground electric infrastructure and improve current and future reliability.

Eversource is coordinating closely with Trinity to share information on project impacts.

Project Schedule and Work Hours

Vernon Street Access and Parking

Access to Vernon Street will remain available throughout the project. However, access points will shift between Vernon Street/Broad Street and Vernon Street/Summit Street.

Please watch Trinity Today for updates on access to Vernon Street and project impacts.

Multiple access points have been identified so that if one section of the street is temporarily unavailable, alternative routes remain open.

Access via Broad Street:

When necessary, local traffic will be routed from Broad Street through the parking lot next to the AASA House at the east end of Vernon Street. Construction deliveries will have an alternate access point, which will be closed at the end of each day.

Flaggers will be stationed daily at Vernon Street/Broad Street and Vernon Street/Summit Street to assist with traffic and pedestrian movement during work hours.

No on-street parking is permitted on Vernon Street for the duration of the project. Please use the parking lots that are accessible via Vernon Street, Allen Place, Broad Street, and Summit Street.
