On Wednesday, October 22, work to repair  a water line on campus will impact water service to several buildings. Read on for details.

Following last week’s disruption to water service in the Raether Library and Information Technology Center and the Austin Arts Center, we are writing to update you on the upcoming repair work to the affected water line.

On Tuesday, October 21, excavation will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the Gates Quad, between the Austin Arts Center and Hallden Hall. Water service will remain available throughout the day on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, October 22, beginning at 8:00 a.m., water service to the following buildings will be shut off to complete the repair:

  • Raether Library and Information Technology Center
  • Austin Arts Center
  • Hallden Hall
  • McCook Academic Building
  • Jones Hall
  • Jackson Hall
  • Trinity Hall
  • Smith Hall
  • Funston Hall

The duration of the outage will be determined once the excavation is complete. We will provide updates to the community as soon as more information becomes available. Buildings remain open, and classes, events, and activities are proceeding as scheduled unless changed by the organizer.

During the repair, restrooms, sinks, showers, and water fountains in the affected buildings will be unavailable. Supplemental restroom facilities will be located near Hallden Hall and Trinity and Funston halls.

Staff from the Bantam Network Residential Learning Community will contact students in affected residence halls to provide access to showers in other areas of campus.

In addition, due to the interruption of water service, the Health Center will be closed for direct patient care on October 22. Students with medical concerns during this time should call the Health Center at 860-297-2018. For emergencies: Contact Campus Safety at 860-297-2222 or dial 911.

We apologize for the inconvenience these necessary repairs may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore full service as quickly as possible.
