This marks the Trinity women’s squash team’s first national title since 2014, which was the last time the Howe Cup went to a team other than Harvard University. The Bantams completed an undefeated season, with a record of 17-0.
The Trinity women dominated, registering three three-set sweeps from Nouran Youssef ’24, Madeleine Hylland ’24, and Hannah Chukwu ’26. Jana Safy ’25 took down her Princeton opponent in four sets, as did teammate Lulu Palacios Benitez ’25. Kara Lincou ’27 had a tougher match before clinching the five-set win after a 14-12 rally.
Following a dominant performance on the water in California last weekend, the Bantams return to Hartford as the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III Varsity Eight National Champions.
Joining a growing list of NCAA programs, the Bantams will launch a women’s fencing team in 2027-28 and a men’s fencing team in 2028-29, reviving a sport with deep roots on campus.
