Hartford, Connecticut, April 3, 2019 – Trinity College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney has been named as one of eight winners of the Hartford Business Journal’s 2019 Women in Business Awards, which recognize “remarkable women who are making a significant difference within their organization and the community.”
The honorees, who were chosen from a pool of more than 90 nominees, will be celebrated during a luncheon on April 29 at the Hilton Hartford and were featured in a recent issue of Hartford Business Journal.
In an article profiling Berger-Sweeney, Trinity alumnus and past trustee Paul Mounds ’07, chief operating officer for Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, noted Berger-Sweeney’s accomplishments in better linking Trinity with the city of Hartford. In the article, titled Berger-Sweeney enhances Trinity College’s connections with home city, Mounds is quoted: “She has implemented so many different partnerships … She has basically put forth as part of the overall strategy of the college that Hartford is part of Trinity’s success.”
Other recipients of 2019 Women in Business Awards include Tracy Church, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Hartford HealthCare, and Sharon Castelli, CEO of Chrysalis Center Inc.
