NBC Connecticut: Trinity Field Hockey Organizes Virtual Race to Benefit COVID-19 Relief Efforts

NBC Connecticut recently highlighted the efforts of the Trinity College field hockey team to set up a virtual race in support of coronavirus relief.

For the May 17 news story and video, reporter Matt Finkel conducted remote interviews with field hockey captain Kendall Brown ’21 and head coach Anne Parmenter, professor of physical education, in which they discussed how the team partnered with Positive Tracks on the fundraising program.

The community responded ready to take on the challenge, NBC Connecticut said. Participants paid $10 to enter and had a choice of independently running a 5K, 10K, a half marathon, or “Anne’s Challenge” of 19 miles.

“Do as much as you want, do as little as you want, but to raise some money,” said Parmenter. “Just being able to help maybe a few people is our huge motivation.”

Brown added, “I think that we can kind of rally the Trinity community and alumni and all of these different teams and see if they wanted to give back and help.”

Portions of the money raised will go to Hartford Hospital, the Disaster Philanthropy COVID-19 Response Fund, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston—the workplace of former Trinity field hockey goalie Lori Berger ’18 M’19.
