Trinity College marks the end of 2024 by reflecting upon moments from the past year. Along with news of a presidential transition and the conclusion of Trinity’s Bicentennial celebrations, highlights of the year included academic and social events that brought the entire community together.
Daniel G. Lugo, currently president of Queens University of Charlotte, was named Trinity College’s 23rd president, a role he will assume on July 1, 2025. Lugo will succeed Joanne Berger-Sweeney, who has led the institution for 11 years.
For its commitment to youth-driven service and youth development, Trinity College has received a $10,000 College Service Grant from The Allstate Foundation in collaboration with the Center for Expanding Leadership & Opportunity (CELO).
Davarian L. Baldwin, Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of American Studies, has received a two-year grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for his Smart Cities Research Lab.
Professor of Music Eric A. Galm and the Trinity Samba Fest have received the Society for Ethnomusicology’s 2024 Judith McCulloh Public Sector Award, recognizing the valuable impact that this free cross-cultural event has on the public.
