Seating and Tickets
Trinity’s Commencement ceremony is held outdoors on the Main Quad, rain or shine. Graduates are free to wear rain gear over their gowns. High heels are not recommended. Guests should come prepared for all weather conditions, including rain or hot sun.
All Commencement guests are asked to be seated by 10:30 a.m. as the processional begins at 10:50 a.m. Commencement seating will open at 9:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Any signs placed on seats prior to 9:00 a.m. will be removed.
Tickets
Graduates can invite an unlimited number of guests; there are no tickets required and there is ample seating for general audiences.
Extreme Weather
In the event of extreme weather conditions that threaten personal safety (such as a severe thunderstorm), the Commencement ceremony may be held indoors. In the unlikely event that the ceremony must be held indoors, seating will be limited to two guest tickets per graduate. Extreme weather tickets will be distributed to degree candidates during Senior Week, May 11–15.
If changes are required due to extreme weather, details will be communicated by 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, in the following ways:
- An announcement on Trinity Today
- A broadcast email to the campus community (faculty, staff, and students)
- A notice on www.trincoll.edu
The following locations will be available for friends and family members who do not have extreme weather tickets to view the ceremony:
- Jacob Life Sciences Center, Boyer Auditorium
- Clement Chemistry Building, Cinestudio
- Austin Arts Center, Goodwin Theater
- McCook Academic Building, McCook Auditorium
- Mather Hall, Washington Room
