Trinity College has announced a series of affordability initiatives designed to lower financial barriers and expand opportunities for the region’s top students, making a world-class liberal arts education more accessible than ever.
“Hartford is our home. Our histories and futures are intertwined with one another. When one of us rises, so should the other,” said Trinity College President Dan Lugo. “The citizens of Hartford stepped up more than 150 years ago to invest an enormous sum ($600,000 in 1872) to build a new campus where the college now sits. I am thrilled that we can continue to honor this history and to support our city and community with our own investment to expand access for students from Hartford to receive a world class college education right in their hometown.”

I’m grateful for our partnership with Trinity College and their continued efforts to empower our students and the future of our workforce.”
Through three targeted programs—Hometown Hartford, Centered in Connecticut, and Honoring Our Own—this financial aid initiative addresses affordability across the capital city, the greater Hartford region, and the campus community itself. Additionally, Trinity will no longer charge an application fee, making it possible for all students to apply without that cost being a consideration.
Through the Hometown Hartford program, Trinity College will provide financial support that covers full tuition, housing, and meals to admitted students whose primary residence is in Hartford.
Students must apply and be admitted to Trinity to receive the Hometown Hartford benefit. The program builds on the College’s long-standing partnerships with organizations serving Hartford students, including Capital Squash, Hartford Youth Scholars, and Hartford Promise.
Expanding in the region, Trinity College will award half-tuition grants to all admitted students with primary residences in Hartford County and its adjoining counties of Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, and Tolland counties. This program aims to make Trinity a more affordable option for the region’s highest achieving students.
The third program in this series honors Trinity’s community of professional talent with a full-tuition remission benefit for the children of faculty and staff. All children of employees with three or more years of contiguous, full-time service to Trinity will be eligible upon admission to the College.
All students applying for the 2027-2028 academic school year will be able to take advantage of these new financial aid opportunities.

Summer 2026 was filled with campus improvement projects, including progress on infrastructure updates, upgrades to classrooms and first-year residence halls, athletics facilities renovations, dining enhancements, beautification projects, and more.
Trinity College opened its 203rd academic year on September 3, 2026, when new students, their families, and members of the Trinity community gathered in the Ferris Athletic Center’s Ray Oosting Gymnasium for Convocation and Matriculation.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of alumni, parents, families, and friends, the Trinity College Fund raised $10.5 million in fiscal year 2026, marking the most successful year for annual giving in the College’s history.
