Administration

Christina Bleyer, College Librarian, Associate Vice President of Libraries and Digital Learning; Director of Special Collections and Archives, Watkinson Library [email protected] 860-297-2266 RLITC A70 Christina Bleyer, PhD is College Librarian, Associate Vice President of Libraries and Digital Learning and Director of Special Collections and Archives, Watkinson Library at Trinity College in Hartford, CT and has been at Trinity since June of 2018. She also serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Archival Organization. She earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Philosophy at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where until 2016 she managed the institution’s manuscript collections. Her research is focused on human rights, ethics, and the role of emotions in the constitution of the person, the community, and memory especially in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to securing several grants to collect oral histories from the Hartford community, Dr. Bleyer serves as the Principal Investigator for The Watkinson’s recently awarded Modern Endangered Archives Program Grant to digitize the Lloyd Best Archive in Trinidad and Tobago.

Amy Harrell, Head of Collections, Research, and Instruction [email protected] 860-297-2193 RLITC A31 Amy provides leadership for a team who builds the library collections and teaches the Trinity community to engage with them in the pursuit of teaching and learning.

Rose Beranis, Research & Circulation Services Librarian [email protected] 860-297-2477 RLITC A39 Rose is the Research & Circulation Services Librarian at Trinity College. She oversees circulation, resource sharing, course reserves, and the Peer Research Center, and supports students and faculty with research and instruction. She develops library programs and events that connect students to collections while promoting student success and well-being. She has been part of the Trinity College community since 2018.

Susan Chatham, Research & Instruction Librarian, Social Sciences & Data [email protected] 860-297-5335 LITC A38 Susan started at Trinity in Fall 2023 as a Research & Instruction Librarian. As a Research & Instruction Librarian Susan works with students and faculty to support their academic research goals, and provides programming and outreach activities to engage community members with the library.

Todd Falkowski, Catalog Librarian [email protected] 860-297-2271 RLITC A32 Todd joined Trinity in June 2012 as a Catalog Librarian having previously worked for Yale University and the CSCU system. He supports library collections and research with accessible metadata and back-end system support.

Jeremy Garritano, Science Librarian [email protected] RLITC A40 Jeremy joined the Research & Instruction Team in November 2024, and is available to assist with STEM research projects and collaborate with faculty on instruction sessions. He is also taking a lead role in promoting OER resources on campus.

He currently is a research librarian journeying through the chaotic universe of information, with stops at oceans and historic places along the way.

Kim Rinaldo, Electronic Resources & Systems Librarian [email protected] 860-297-2243 RLITC A02 Kim joined the library team in 2015.  As the electronic resources librarian she is responsible for acquisition, upkeep, troubleshooting, and evaluation of the library’s subscription and perpetually licensed electronic resources, including databases, e-journals, e-books, and streaming media.  She is the administrator of Trinity’s integrated library system, Alma.  Kim is involved in collection development for the leisure reading and graphic novels collections.

Joelle Thomas, Systems, User Experience, & Discovery Librarian [email protected] 860-297-2542 Joelle has worked at the library since 2016. She is an administrator of multiple systems, including Alma, Trinity Domains, and OneSearch, and manages the LITS website.

Watkinson Library & Archives

Amy FitzGerald, Processing Archivist (part-time) Watkinson Library & Archives [email protected] 860-297-4060 RLITC 165 Amy joined the Watkinson Library team in December 2021. She holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Tulane University and an M.L.S. from University of Maryland-College Park. Her work includes the arrangement, description, and housing of materials in the College’s archival collections in order to facilitate user access.

Eric Johnson-​DeBaufre, PhD, Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian [email protected] 860-297-4219 ​RLITC, Watkinson Library Profile page Before he became a librarian, Eric Johnson-DeBaufre received his Ph.D. in English and taught 16th and 17th century British literature at several liberal arts colleges and universities. He joined Watkinson Library in 2019 where he wears several hats—rare books curator, cataloger, instructor, and preservationist. He loves old typefaces and is still searching for the Sancho Panza who will help him fulfill his quixotic dream of opening a type foundry in Hartford.

Casey Machenheimer, Special Collections and Archives Librarian for Public Services [email protected] 860-297-2558 RLITC A71 Casey Machenheimer joined the Watkinson Library in January 2024. She received her B.A. in English from Ohio University in 2019 and her M.L.S. with a specialization in Rare Books and Manuscripts from Indiana University in 2023. Prior to coming to the Watkinson, she has worked in both special collections libraries and public libraries. In her current role, her focus is facilitating user access to materials, working directly with students, and finding new ways to promote opportunities and services in the Watkinson Library.

Barbara Sternal, Art Collection Manager, Watkinson Library [email protected] 860-297-2290 RLITC A36 Barbara Sternal began working at the Watkinson Library in 2022 as the Bicentennial Processing Archivist to assist in projects related to Trinity College’s Bicentennial celebration in 2023. She transitioned to Art Collection Manager in 2024. She has a B.A. in History from Boston College and an M.A. in Public History from Central Connecticut State University. She is an experienced collections professional and has worked with various archival and museum collections at a number of institutions.

Eric Stoykovich, College Archivist and Manuscript Librarian 860-297-2267 RLITC A63 Eric represents two actively-growing collections, the Trinity College Archives and the manuscripts collection. He answers questions about Trinity’s 200-year history and the handwritten records of Connecticut’s leaders. Eric seeks to elevate the awareness of the College and its stakeholders to the importance of preserving Trinity’s archives, including the digital presence of Trinity’s faculty, staff, and students.

Digital Asset Management

Amanda Matava, MLS, Digital Archivist and Head of Digital Asset Management [email protected] 860-297-4084 RLITC A73 As the head of Digital Asset Management, Amanda’s responsibilities include overseeing the creation, ingest, appraisal, description, and stewardship of born-digital or digitized library, archival, and special collections materials. Amanda has been working in libraries for 15 years. She joined Trinity in 2017.

Benny Bauer, Digital Media Librarian​ [email protected] 860-297-4061 RLITC 184 Benny joined the Digital Asset Management department as Digital Media Librarian in 2022, and directs the Digital Imaging Studio and student staff. Their main responsibilities include collaborating with faculty and other departments to fulfill video teaching and research needs, designing and overseeing digital workflows, monitoring completion and storage of digital projects, and publishing library, archival, and special collections materials to online institutional repositories.
