Heat and Hot Water Repairs on December 4
On Thursday, December 4, Facilities Services will need to make emergency repairs to the central energy plant that provides heat and hot water for many buildings on campus.
During the day, occupants in the following buildings may feel loss of heat. In all affected buildings (except where noted), there will be no hot water:
Manuel and Maria Luisa Lopes Borges Admissions Center
Albert C. Jacobs Life Sciences Center (LSC)
Austin Arts Center
Central Energy Plant
Chapel
Clement Chemistry Building
Cook Hall
Crescent Center for Arts and Neuroscience
Downes Memorial
Elton Hall (will still have hot water)
English Department Building
Ferris Athletic Center
Goodwin-Woodward Hall
Hallden Hall
Hamlin Hall
Hansen Hall
Jarvis Hall
Jones Hall (will still have hot water)
Koeppel Student Center/The Bistro
Mather Hall
McCook Academic Building
Northam Towers
Raether Library and Information Technology Center (no water service)
Seabury Hall
Williams Memorial
We anticipate that heat and hot water will be back to full service by 8:00 p.m. on December 4.
Facilities staff will be monitoring indoor temperatures throughout the day to ensure buildings remain within acceptable comfort levels. Should temperatures fall to unacceptable levels, we will provide support options for those living or working in the affected spaces:
- Employees may work with their managers if they need to arrange remote work.
- Staff from the Bantam Network Residential Learning Community will assist students in affected residence halls.
We apologize for the inconvenience these necessary repairs may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore full service as quickly as possible.
