Facilities Services will begin the changeover process of switching from heating to cooling on Monday, May 9. The changeover process takes approximately 10–14 days. Please note: There are multiple buildings and systems that need to be changed over and as such, some buildings will be switched over prior to others.
Weather in the spring can significantly fluctuate from hot to cold and cold to hot within a matter of days. The physical plant that supplies heating and cooling to the campus operates on a two-pipe system that cannot be switched on and off from air conditioning to heat or heat to air conditioning without significant adjustments. The physical plant staff carefully monitors temperatures and makes a recommendation when to convert to heat or air conditioning, and May 9 was the selected start date to do the changeover.
