\u201cNo person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance…\u201d<\/strong> 20 U.S.C. \u00a7 1681.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. If only one of an educational institution\u2019s programs or activities receives federal funding, all of the programs within the institution must comply with Title IX and its implementing regulations. Accordingly, Trinity College prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all of its programs and activities, including academics, employment, athletics, and other extracurricular activities. This prohibition includes gender-based harassment, sexual violence and other sexual harassment.<\/p>\n

Compliance with Title IX is a community-wide responsibility. The information here provides an overview of the College’s policies,\u00a0who you may contact with questions about Title IX, and how you can report sex discrimination and sex-based harassment.<\/p>\n

\n

Trinity College\u2019s policies and procedures related to sex discrimination and sexual harassment were updated on August 1, 2024, to align with updates to federal Title IX regulations.\u00a0 Due to a federal court decision on January 9, 2025, the prior updates to federal Title IX regulations were vacated nationwide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Therefore, the College has retracted the Policy on Sex Discrimination (which was effective 8\/1\/24) and will maintain the\u00a0Policy on Sexual Harassment<\/a>\u00a0(Including Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation) on an interim basis for all conduct alleged to have occurred on or after May 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the meantime, the College is taking steps to review and revise policies and procedures as needed and remains committed to supporting all members of our community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from sex discrimination in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial assistance.
