Connecting Macmillan Achieve to Moodle allows students to open Achieve resources directly from your Moodle course. You can also add individual Achieve assignments to Moodle and have students\u2019 scores sync with the Moodle gradebook.<\/p>\n

These instructions use Macmillan\u2019s LTI Advantage (LTI 1.3) integration.<\/p>\n

Before You Begin<\/h2>\n

Create and prepare your course in Achieve before connecting it to Moodle. Each Moodle course should be connected to its own unique Achieve course.<\/p>\n

In your Achieve course settings:<\/p>\n

  1. Locate the LMS Integration<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n
  2. Select Yes<\/strong> to indicate that you will integrate the course with an LMS.<\/li>\n
  3. Select Moodle<\/strong> from the LMS menu.<\/li>\n
  4. Save your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step 1: Enable the Macmillan Tools<\/h2>\n

    In your Moodle course:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Select More<\/strong> from the course navigation menu.<\/li>\n
    2. Select LTI External tools<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. Turn on the following tool:\n

      1. Macmillan Learning Tools<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Step 2: Add Macmillan Course Tools<\/h2>\n

        The Macmillan Course Tools link is used to establish and manage the connection between your Moodle and Achieve courses.<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Return to the main page of your Moodle course.<\/li>\n
        2. Turn on Edit mode<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Select Add an activity or resource<\/strong> in the section where you would like the link to appear.<\/li>\n
        4. Select Macmillan Learning Tools<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        5. Enter Macmillan Course Tools<\/strong> as the activity name.<\/li>\n
        6. Under “Show More” enter into the custom parameter action=toolsWidget<\/li>\n
        7. Select Save and return to course<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Do not hide the Macmillan Course Tools activity from students. Students see only the student-specific options they need to manage their connection to Achieve; they cannot access the instructor tools or change the course integration.<\/p>\n

          Step 3: Connect Your Achieve Course<\/h2>\n

          1. Open the new Macmillan Course Tools<\/strong> activity in Moodle.<\/li>\n
          2. Select Connect with Achieve<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          3. If prompted, enter your name and the email address associated with your Achieve account.<\/li>\n
          4. On the Associate Courses<\/strong> page, locate the appropriate Achieve course and select Associate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          5. Select Yes, Associate This Course<\/strong> to confirm.<\/li>\n
          6. Select OK<\/strong> to return to Moodle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Your Moodle course and Achieve course are now connected.<\/p>\n

            Registering Students<\/h2>\n

            Students should access and register for Achieve through the links in your Moodle course.<\/p>\n

            Macmillan specifically recommends that students follow its Moodle registration instructions<\/a>. Students should not follow separate registration directions printed on an access card or register independently through the Achieve website. Registering outside Moodle may prevent their Achieve grades from syncing correctly.<\/p>\n
