Requests for films to be added to Kaltura are handled through the Library\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/lits\/materials-research\/borrowing-requesting\/requests\/\">course reserve program<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li>Once films have been added,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/tdi\/teaching-learning\/moodle\/watching-course-video-assignments-with-kaltura-in-moodle\/\">students should click on \u201cMedia Gallery\u201d in the right hand block drawer<\/a>\u00a0within their Moodle course.<\/li>\n<li>Instructors can also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/tdi\/teaching-learning\/moodle\/adding-kaltura-films-to-moodle-topics-or-weeks\/\">embed Kaltura films under Moodle Topics or Weeks<\/a>\u00a0for better integration with other course materials.<\/li>\n<li>See also:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tow-adding-kanopy-and-films-on-demand-clips-to-moodle\/\">adding films from Kanopy or Films on Demand to Moodle<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/library\/2018\/11\/02\/finding-film-content-in-onesearch\/\">discovering film content in the Library\u2019s OneSearch<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/kaltura-video-streaming\/using-kaltura-analytics-in-moodle\/\">Kaltura\u2019s documentation for analytics\/usage statistics<\/a>, which instructors can access from within Media Gallery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create lecture, screen, voice, and presentation captures:<\/strong>\u00a0Using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/capturespace\/\">Kaltura Personal Capture, a downloadable desktop application<\/a>, you can record your screen along with voice and\/or presentation slides,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/trim-and-crop-kaltura-video\/\">trim and crop the video<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/kaltura-capturespace-ordering-captions\/\">order and edit closed captions.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0You can also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/publish-your-video-to-a-moodle-course\/\">publish your videos to any Moodle course,<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/how-to-make-your-kaltura-video-downloadable\/\">make them downloadable<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create your own library with My Media<\/strong>:\u00a0 \u201cMy Media\u201d is no longer connected to Moodle in the way it used to be. There is a link in the top navigation bar that will bring you to your Kaltura Media Gallery,\u00a0 your personal library. You can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/kaltura-video-streaming\/uploading-content-to-my-media\/\">upload content from your own device<\/a>\u00a0or you can create new content using the Kaltura\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/capturespace\/\">Personal Capture<\/a>\u00a0tool. You can then share your content with others in Moodle. (<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/kaltura-mediaspace-sharing-content\/\">To share content outside of Moodle, login to My Media within the Mediaspace environment.<\/a>\u00a0)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create student video assignments:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Kaltura can accept content students create as part of an assignment.\u00a0 In Moodle, \u201cAdd an Activity or Resource\u201d and select \u201cKaltura Media Assignment.\u201d Students can then use this assignment area as a \u201cdropbox\u201d for their videos to be graded. Here are i<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/using-kaltura-capture-to-submit-video-or-audio-assignments\/\">nstructions for students on using Capture<\/a>\u00a0to submit their recordings.<\/li>\n<li>You can also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/creating-a-kaltura-video-quiz\/\">create video quizzes<\/a>: videos that pause during playback to ask questions of the viewers as a method of learning assessment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"mediaspace\">\n<h4><strong>Using Kaltura within Mediaspace<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mediaspace is Trinity\u2019s publicly accessible video portal located at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trincoll.mediaspace.kaltura.com\/\">trincoll.mediaspace.kaltura.com<\/a>. Trinity users may login using their Trinity credentials and access the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/kaltura-video-streaming\/capturespace\/\">Kaltura Personal Capture<\/a>\u00a0screen capture tool,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/tools-how-to\/kaltura-mediaspace-sharing-content\/\">upload content to their \u201cMy Media\u201d personal library<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/kaltura-capturespace-ordering-captions\/\">order captions<\/a>, and then\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edtech.domains.trincoll.edu\/kaltura-mediaspace-sharing-content\/\">share content with those outside of Trinity.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can also create \u201cchannels\u201d within Mediaspace for grouping videos together and sharing them under restrictions that you designate. To do so, login to Mediaspace, click the Channels tab, the the blue \u201cCreate Channel\u201d button. There are several different permission levels you can set for the channel, from completely private, to campus-only access, to open to the public. \u201cLogged in\u201d means that videos will only be shown once a Trinity user logs in with their credentials. (If a user tries to access via a URL, Kaltura will prompt for credentials before playing the video). \u201cChannel members\u201d means anyone you add to the channel.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Kaltura Mobile<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>KMS Go<\/strong>\u00a0is Kaltura\u2019s lightweight mobile app that can easily capture and upload audio, video, or still images to your My Media collection on Kaltura. The app is a free download from the app stores for either Android or iPhone. When prompted, enter the site URL\u00a0https:\/\/trincoll.mediaspace.kaltura.com and login with your Trinity credentials.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Taking a long time to upload video files?<\/strong>\u00a0Try using Firefox as your browser instead.
