{"id":223,"date":"2020-04-14T21:10:21","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T21:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/student-accounts\/former-students\/faq\/"},"modified":"2022-04-27T17:57:23","modified_gmt":"2022-04-27T17:57:23","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/student-accounts\/former-students\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"Frequently Asked Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1.\u00a0 What do I do if I can\u2019t make my monthly payment?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Contact your lender and explain your situation.\u00a0 There may be deferment or forbearance options available to you.\u00a0 Also, you may be able to adjust your repayment schedule to temporarily lower your monthly payments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0 Do I have to make my payments if I continue my education?<br \/>\n<\/strong>If you are enrolled at least half time at an eligible school you are eligible for an educational deferment.\u00a0 Contact your lenders for a deferment form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0 What is the process for obtaining a deferment or forbearance?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou must contact your loan servicer for each of your loans.\u00a0 There is not a universal deferment form and you cannot assume your lenders know you are enrolled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0 Where do I send my payments?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe addresses are listed in Student Loan Repayment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0 Who should I make my checks payable to?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis information is listed in Student Loan Repayment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.\u00a0 How can I consolidate my loans?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you currently have a Federal Direct Loan, you should investigate consolidation with the Federal Government by calling (800) 557-7392.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.\u00a0 Can I pay more than my regularly scheduled monthly payment?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can always pay more than your regularly scheduled monthly payment.\u00a0 This will lower the amount of interest you will pay over the life of your loan.\u00a0 Under most circumstances, you CANNOT prepay your loans in advance by making a double payment and then skipping the following monthly payment.\u00a0 You must always make your regularly scheduled monthly payment regardless of how much extra you may have paid the previous month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.\u00a0 What will happen if I don\u2019t pay my loans back?<\/strong><br \/>\nYou will go into default.\u00a0 The consequences are listed in the default section above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.\u00a0\u00a0 What do I do if I change my address?<\/strong><br \/>\nIt is your responsibility to update your new address with each of your lenders by calling or writing to them.\u00a0 You are still required to make your regularly scheduled payments even if you do not receive a billing statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.\u00a0\u00a0 How can I find out who my lenders are and how much I owe on my student loans?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis information is provided to all students during Exit Loan Counseling.\u00a0 If you have misplaced this information, you can find out about your specific loans via the internet at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nslds.ed.gov\">www.nslds.ed.gov<\/a>.\u00a0 The first time you try this you will need to request a pin number.\u00a0 After that you will be able to sign in and check the status of your student loans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.\u00a0 What do I do if I can\u2019t make my monthly payment?
