Faculty members should work closely with students interested in their research project prior to submission to develop roles and expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty applicants will need to prepare the following information prior to submission:\u200b<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project title, description, and length (8-10 weeks recommended). Project descriptions should be written in language readily understood by a general audience, as opposed to an expert in the field.<\/li>\n<li>An explanation of the project within the greater context of the faculty member\u2019s work<\/li>\n<li>A list of the specific tasks the Research Assistant would perform, a description of the educational benefits to the student, and justification for increased need (if requesting multiple RA\u2019s)<\/li>\n<li>Research Assistant name and contact information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon submission of the faculty application, the listed Research Assistants will be asked to provide feedback on their role within the project and anticipated educational benefits to their participation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Feedback: \u200b<\/strong><br \/>\nUpon faculty submission of the Summer Research Program application, students will be contacted to provide brief feedback. Students will be asked to provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u200bProject title, description, and length (8-10 weeks recommended)<\/li>\n<li>Faculty supervisor name<\/li>\n<li>A brief description of the research project, the student\u2019s role on the research team, as well as an explanation of how the project will help the student achieve their academic goals (e.g., gaining technical skills, serving as a jumping off point for an independent thesis, being involved in a publication, reading the literature, interacting with the public in an official capacity, practicing language skills, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>An indication of whether or not the student will need on campus housing to conduct the research project.
