The newly dedicated Manuel and Maria Luisa Lopes Borges Admissions Center features portraits of the building\u2019s namesakes, the parents of Francisco L. \u201cFrank\u201d Borges \u201974, H\u201920, Peter L. Borges \u201980, Francesca Borges Gordon \u201982, Maria Borges Correia \u201985, and Joaquina Borges King. The siblings joined their extended family, as well as Trinity faculty, staff, and students and other alumni, on campus in April as the College celebrated the center\u2019s official dedication, which followed a $10 million gift from the family to establish a financial aid endowment. The gift was inspired by the commitment of their parents, who traveled to the United States from the Cape Verdean Islands to provide better opportunities for their children and saw education as key to seizing those opportunities.<\/p>\n
