Trinfo<\/a>\u2014formerly known as Trinfo.Caf\u00e9\u2014reopened at the start of the fall 2025 semester as it celebrated 25 years<\/a> on campus and a renewed focus on serving the community.<\/p>\n

Liliana Polley IDP\u201921, M\u201923, executive director of Trinity\u2019s\u00a0Center for Hartford Engagement and Research\u2014which counts Trinfo among its core programs\u2014said that while Trinfo\u2019s priorities have been adjusted over the years, its mission remains the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Trinfo will continue to honor its historic role in bridging the digital divide, this new phase will emphasize resources provided by Trinity College, the city, and the state to increase accessibility to educational opportunities and social services,\u201d Polley said. \u201cThe community garden and\u00a0VITA Tax Clinic\u00a0are excellent examples of mutually beneficial relationships. It\u2019s about building trust and collaboration while addressing real needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Polley said that Trinity made a significant investment in maintenance and repairs to the building, which was closed during the 2024\u201325 academic year. The building boasts new flooring, new bathrooms, a new accessible sidewalk, and updated HVAC and fire systems. Trinfo also debuted new signage and a new logo. \u201cWe wanted to make the space inviting and welcoming,\u201d she said, \u201cand it needed a fresh face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trinfo.Caf\u00e9 was founded in 1999\u2014when internet caf\u00e9s were popular worldwide\u2014to broaden access to the internet and tech services for Trinity\u2019s neighbors. \u201cToday, many more residents have a cell phone in their hand, and the community\u2019s priorities have changed,\u201d Polley said.<\/p>\n

After noting a decline in the building\u2019s usage when it reopened to the public after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Polley and her team embarked on a plan to reenvision Trinfo, on the northeast corner of campus, based on community feedback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest change is an increased focus on college access and career-readiness resources for Hartford high school students,\u201d she said. Trinfo will offer\u00a0FAFSA workshops, essay-writing assistance from students in Trinity\u2019s\u00a0Writing Center, and regular on-site office hours with staff from Trinity\u2019s\u00a0Admissions Office\u00a0and\u00a0Career and Life Design Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrinity has these resources, and it\u2019s important that we share them with the community,\u201d Polley said. \u201cAnd this is not just for students; we will offer writing resources and career services to Hartford residents as we expand our community and our partnerships. Trinity is invested in the success of its neighbors and is committed to creating a welcoming space for everyone in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
