Dana Professor of Fine Arts, was tapped earlier this year to participate in the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, which opened in Venice, Italy, in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, this represents an incredible opportunity to bring my work to a world stage. It\u2019s just a dream come true,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Delano\u2019s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Australia. His book of photographs,\u00a0<em>Faces of America<\/em>, was published by Smithsonian Institution Press in 1992.<\/p>\n<p>Currently on sabbatical, Delano planned to travel to Venice in advance of the opening.\u00a0The exhibition is set to run through November 24, after which Delano\u2019s project will be packed and shipped back to his studio at Trinity. \u201cThis is a career-changing event for any participating artist,\u201d said Delano. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see what comes next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adriano Pedrosa, curator and artistic director for the Biennale Arte 2024, titled<em> Stranieri Ovunque-Foreigners Everywhere<\/em>, spotted Delano\u2019s work at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and shared photos on social media. That led to conversations and, ultimately, the invitation to participate in one of the world\u2019s largest contemporary art exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>More than 800,000 tickets were sold to the last Art Biennale, which was held in 2022 and marked the first time since the pandemic. In addition to presenting visual artists, the Biennale also organizes the Venice Film Festival and festivals of theater, dance, and music.
