As a human phenomenon that has inspired and shaped cultural, social, and political expressions across the globe, religion is one of the most significant human experiences to study. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, religion has come to play a key role–for better and for worse–in humanitarian efforts, discourses of political extremism, trends in public policy and law, and attacks on science. Dedicated to exploring these sorts of fundamental issues, the faculty members and students in the Department of Religious Studies seek to comprehend such forces by engaging with diverse sets of texts, rituals, theologies, and artifacts. The study of religion is an inherently interdisciplinary field, engaging historical, ethnographical, philosophical, literary, and sociological methodologies.<\/p>\n
The Department of Religious Studies at Trinity College has had the pleasure of teaching some of Trinity\u2019s brightest and most driven students. As a small community-focused department, students have been able to develop strong intellectual relationships with our faculty.\u00a0 As a result, many of our students have gone on to learn at the world\u2019s top graduate programs such as Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, University of Chicago and Boston College. Due to the diversity of students\u2019 experiences, still others have gone on to become lawyers, physicians, university professors, world renowned restaurateurs, art dealers, and have served their communities on various executive boards. Students also gain from the opportunity to participate in the life of the Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life with Trinity community members and outside visitors who are renowned in their fields and at the vanguard of today’s pressing issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
