Incidents may also violate security policies, procedures, or acceptable use policies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Always report the following:<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<ul>\n<li>Compromised college accounts or devices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<ul>\n<li>Theft of a college computer\n<ul>\n<li>If you contact a local police department, please let us know and provide the case number and contact information. Providing a serial number and other unique identifiers when you report to the police can be crucial for investigations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<ul>\n<li>Ransomware<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<ul>\n<li>Sensitive data that was exposed to parties who should not have access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Actions to take:<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\">\n<ul>\n<li>Suspected compromised accounts should have their\u00a0password changed<\/li>\n<li>Contact the Information Security team the moment you have an incident<\/li>\n<li>Leave the machine powered on but disconnected from the network (wired, wireless, or virtual connections), and do not use it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"uofi-default-block il-formatted\"><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><b>Direct Communication Methods<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/lits\/technology\/tech-support\/email\/reportspam\/\">How to Report Phishing Emails<\/a>\u00a0 |\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/lits\/technology\/tech-support\/\">Help Desk Suppor<\/a>t\u00a0 |\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/trincoll.haloitsm.com\/portal\/service?btn=92&amp;categoryid=37&amp;id=199&amp;itil_requesttype_id=1&amp;shownewticket=true\">Report Cybersecurity Incident<\/a>\u00a0 |\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/incident-response-team\/how-to-report-an-incident\/\">Reporting Harassment<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>What To Tell Us When Reporting An Incident<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>When speaking with the Help Desk, submitting a <a href=\"https:\/\/trincoll.haloitsm.com\/portal\/service?btn=92&amp;categoryid=37&amp;id=199&amp;itil_requesttype_id=1&amp;shownewticket=true\">cybersecurity incident\u00a0form<\/a>, or emailing <a href=\"mailto:Security@trincoll.edu\">Security@trincoll.edu<\/a> to report a cybersecurity incident, please be prepared to provide the following questions if applicable to your event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When did the event happen?<\/li>\n<li>What is your preferred contact information?<\/li>\n<li>Who is involved (other College staff\/Police\/other organizations)?\n<ul>\n<li><i>If the police are involved, please provide the case number and contact.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The device IP, MAC address(es), device name(s), username(s), etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Any actions or assistance that has already been taken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is an incident?
