You&#8217;ll get to pick your sites name followed by .domains.trincoll.edu ([example].domains.trincoll.edu).This also allows you to have subdomains and folders so you can keep all your content under one umbrella ([example].domains.trincoll.edu\/photography and [example].domains.trincoll.edu\/research can also exist)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Host your content<\/strong>&#8211; Server-based file and media storage are provided for your site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stay in control<\/strong> of what you share, how your content is displayed, and how it evolves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"199\" data-end=\"651\">Unlike social media platforms or closed systems, a domain of your own gives you the freedom to build something that reflects your goals, your voice, and your creativity without content form restrictions, unwanted ads, or forced structure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"994\">A personal website can take many forms. It might be a professional portfolio, a research hub, or a space to explore ideas and share them publicly. Whether you\u2019re documenting a project, telling a story, or building a body of work over time, your site becomes a living record of your learning and growth.Along the way, you\u2019ll develop valuable digital skills\u2014like organizing information, designing for an audience, and thinking critically about your online presence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1417\" data-end=\"1608\">As much as we encourage everyone to set up their own domain, we also want to make sure Trinity as an organization stays organized. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/lits\/digital-scholarship\/domains-and-websites\/getting-started-with-domains\/is-a-domain-right-for-you\/\">this page first<\/a>, to ensure your content will land in the best place to reach your audience.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1417\" data-end=\"1608\">Once you decide a domain is right for you, here is an overview of what you&#8217;ll have to do to get going.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-start=\"1417\" data-end=\"1608\"><strong>Claim your domain<\/strong>&#8211; Set up your domain by picking what you want your domain name to be. It will look like [your_name_here].domains.trincoll.edu.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1417\" data-end=\"1608\"><strong>Install your platform<\/strong>&#8211; Choose the skeleton of what you want to structure and run your site. This can be WordPress, Scalr, Grav, HTML or a variety of others.\u00a0<em>Note: WordPress is versatile, widely used, and most user friendly.
