Add a title, for this example \u201cJoke of the Day!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/title_glossary.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1797 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/title_glossary.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"812\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Here there are a few settings that can allow you to grant or restrict access to adding entries for students. By changing the &#8220;Approved by default&#8221; setting to &#8220;No&#8221; will allow you to check your student&#8217;s entries before they are posted for the rest of the class to see.<\/p>\n<p>6. You can also allow students to comment on each other&#8217;s entries by changing the &#8220;Allow comments on entries&#8221; setting to &#8220;Yes&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>7. Once you save the glossary, go back to your home page to make sure it is visible.<\/p>\n<p>8. Click on the glossary, and add a new entry.<\/p>\n<p>9. Add as many entries as you would like<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/5.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1798 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/5.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"503\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Step 2: Adding a block to display the entries.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"li1\">Now, you need to create a block that can implement your glossary.\u00a0 To access the block drawer, simply click on the left-pointing arrow.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/6.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1801 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/6.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>2. Next, click on the &#8220;+add a block&#8221; and choose the option \u201cRandom glossary entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/8.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1802 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/8.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3. When your block is created, click on the gear button and select \u201cConfigure Random glossary entry block.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/9.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1803 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/9.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4. Add a title, and select the glossary you have created for this block.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1804 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"587\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are a few different settings you can choose from when creating your block.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Days before a new entry is shown &#8211; This allows you to control how often a new entry from the glossary is shown. The default is &#8216;0&#8217;, which means that every time you refresh the page, a new entry appears. By changing it to &#8216;1&#8217;, a new entry will only be shown once a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How a new entry is chosen &#8211; There are a few options that you can choose from that determines which entry is shown.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>Random Entry &#8211; Will show a random entry from the glossary<\/li>\n<li>Last Modified Entry &#8211; Will show the last entry that was modified<\/li>\n<li>Next Entry &#8211; Cycles through the entries in order<\/li>\n<li>Alphabetical Order &#8211; Cycles through the entries alphabetically<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, when you go back and look at your page, you should see your block!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Creating a randomized glossary block can allow you to do many things, including a &#8220;Joke of the Day&#8221;
