The 36th<\/sup> Annual Conference of the Japanese Language Teachers\u2019 Association of New England (JLTANE) will be held virtually via Zoom this year, hosted by the Trinity College, Language and Culture Studies, Japanese Program, on Saturday, May 13, 2023.<\/p>\n

Keynote Speaker:<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

This year\u2019s Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Junko Ueno. She is a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Asian Studies Program at Union College, Schenectady New York. Dr. Ueno teaches all levels of Japanese language courses, Japanese culture courses including \u201cLanguage, Identity, and Power in Japan\u201d and \u201cExplore Japanese Manga and Anime,\u201d and First Year Preceptorial. Her research interests are foreign language pedagogy, sociolinguistics, educational psychology, and bilingualism. She has published in Teaching English as a Second Language Electronic Journal\u00a0<\/em>(TESL-EJ)<\/em> and other journals. She contributed a chapter to Incorporating Foreign Language Content in Humanities Courses<\/em> (Ananth & Lyons, 2019, Routledge). Dr. Ueno received her Ph.D. in Language Education and M.A. in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.<\/p>\n
