We are interested in the social processes that cut across regions, the global flows that have local impacts, and the local initiatives that have global resonances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\"><span class=\"Bold\">REQUIREMENTS<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\">In addition to the language and study-away requirements for all majors (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/international-studies\/major-requirements#intro\">introduction<\/a> to international studies), the global studies major consists of 10 credits, distributed as follows:<\/p>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\">Global core courses (three credits): These must be chosen from among the INTS offerings, as approved by the director, and must include at least one course at the 300 level taken at Trinity. The following list contains a selection of regularly offered global core courses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>INTS 201. Gender and Sexuality in a Transnational World<\/li>\n<li>INTS 207. Global South<\/li>\n<li>INTS 209. War and the Asian Diaspora<\/li>\n<li>INTS 211. Global Intimacies<\/li>\n<li>INTS 218. Chinese Global Cities<\/li>\n<li>INTS 247. Global Inequalities<\/li>\n<li>INTS 258. Islamic City<\/li>\n<li>INTS 263. Global Environmental Politics<\/li>\n<li>INTS 266: Global Playgrounds<\/li>\n<li>INTS 268: Gender and Sexuality in the African Diaspora<\/li>\n<li>INTS 302. Global Cities<\/li>\n<li>INTS 314. Black Internationalism<\/li>\n<li>INTS 320. Global 1001 Nights<\/li>\n<li>INTS 342. Global Histories of Sexuality<\/li>\n<li>INTS 344. Global Hip Hop Cultures<\/li>\n<li>INTS 349: Global Migration\/Refugee Lab<\/li>\n<li>INTS 351. Black Islam<\/li>\n<li>INTS 352. Comparative Political Economy<\/li>\n<li>INTS 354: Climate Change in the Global South<\/li>\n<li>INTS 358. Global Seminar on Malcolm X<\/li>\n<li>INTS 379. Feminist and Queer Theory for a Postcolonial World<\/li>\n<li>INTS 385. Global Economic Issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\">Option 1\u2014Disciplinary or thematic focus cluster (three credits) + electives (three credits)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Disciplinary or thematic focus cluster (three credits): In consultation with their international studies advisers, global studies majors must choose three courses, one at the 300 level or above and taken at Trinity, with substantial international or cross-cultural content from a single discipline (such as anthropology, economics, environmental science, history, language and culture studies, philosophy, political science, religious studies, or sociology) or on a single theme (ordinarily drawn from the approved courses for one of Trinity&#8217;s interdisciplinary programs, such as education studies, human rights studies, urban studies, or women, gender, and sexuality studies). One of the three courses may be a methods or theory course.<\/li>\n<li>Electives (three credits): Electives may consist of area courses from any of the area studies majors, global core courses, additional courses for the disciplinary or thematic cluster, or language courses in excess of the four-semester requirement (see above under the introduction to international studies).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\">Option 2\u2014Comparative regions (six credits): Global studies majors choosing this option must distribute six credits evenly among the area courses listed for any two of the world regions comprising the area studies pathway for the international studies program (Africa; Asia; Caribbean and Latin America; Middle East; Russia and Eurasia). One of the courses must be at the 300 level and taken at Trinity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ParagSpaceAbove\">INTS 401.
