When these moments occur on our campus, they\u2019re called \u201cRed Dots\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>\u201cGreen Dot\u201d<\/strong> is any action, choice, or attitude that stops, counters, or displaces a <strong>\u201cRed Dot,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0reducing the likelihood that someone will be hurt.\u00a0 The Green Dot Violence Prevention Initiative promotes safety for everyone in the Trinity community, but also sends a clear message that <strong>we do not tolerate violence on our campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everyone will be a bystander at some point. Green Dot provides the resources and tools to help you to be a safe and effective one.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Green Dot<\/strong> encourages individuals to choose to do something when they see a \u201cRed Dot\u201d happening or that could happen. This prevention strategy works on the individual level to create a safer and caring community. Momentum is created when each individual in the Trinity community makes a small choice to take an action against violence, and role modeling this to friends, roommates, team members, club members and Greek Letter Organizations. The WGRAC director, Laura Lockwood, coordinates the Green Dot Team and the Initiative. We strive to bring Green Dot\u2019s safe bystander intervention skills and values to the entire campus through interactive workshops, presentations, and activities. This includes presentations to all faculty, staff and administration. This only works to reduce violence and survivor-blaming while shifting the culture if the entire campus participates.<\/p>\n<p>There are reactive and pro-active Green Dots:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reactive:<\/strong> Taking action in the moment, using the 3 Ds: Direct, Distract, Delegate<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proactive<\/strong>: Green Dot promotion carries the visible message throughout the campus: social media, coffeehouse Open Tabs, student led activities, collaborations with athletics, Greek Life, student organizations and student leaders; displaying Green Dot merch on one\u2019s laptop, phone, in the work area, and in the classroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-339 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/greendot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/10\/GD.TF_.26.2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/greendot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/10\/GD.TF_.26.2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/greendot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/10\/GD.TF_.26.2-500x282.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/greendot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/10\/GD.TF_.26.2.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 268px) 100vw, 268px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Proactive highlights of spring semester \u201926 were Green Dot\u2019s collaborations with athletic teams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trinity\u2019s Track &amp; Field Team Invitational, <em>See\u00a0photo.\u00a0<\/em> Athletes used green batons and students distributed Green Dot merchandise to attending coaches and teams. Track &amp; Field Coach John Michael Mason\u2014a Green Dot Team member\u2014led this initiative and spoke about Green Dot to all in attendance.<\/li>\n<li>Green Dot Ice Hockey Game, with the Women\u2019s Ice Hockey coaches Keith Maurice and Maya Roy.
