Amelia ’22 

Anticipated major: international studies and mechanical engineering

Academics: Amelia is an 1823 Scholar, one of the top tiers of scholarships Trinity offers, and is enrolled in the Humanities Gateway Program (previously known as Guided Studies), a six course, three semester program that takes the place of a first-year seminar. 

Leadership Activities: Amelia participated in two pre-orientation leadership programs: Venture Trinity and Quest. Venture Trinity is a three-day leadership conference for incoming female students. Quest fosters leadership skills through a wilderness adventure in the Appalachian Mountains. In the spring, Amelia will take part in the Catalyst Leadership Corps through a community internship.

Community Service: Amelia is involved in Green Campus, which focuses on sustainability and fostering respect for the environment. Amelia serves the community through JELLO (January Experience of Living, Learning, and Outreach) and ACES (Annual Community Events Staff). ACES organizes major annual community service events, while JELLO takes students out into the Hartford community for service projects. 

Matthew ’20

Major: Sociology

Academics: Matthew earned Faculty Honors in December 2016 and 2017.

Leadership Activities: Matthew is in his second year as co-president of the Men of Color Alliance (MOCA) and is the head unit manager for the event support staff, coordinating student workers for campus events.

Community Service: Matthew is dedicated to helping others pursue their dreams through the Dream Support Network, Dreamchasers Academy, and Dreamchasers Workshops. Through the Dream Support Network, Matthew runs an ice cream truck that gives kids free ice cream in exchange for dreams. Dreamchasers Academy is an after school program that teaches middle schoolers the skills they need to make their dreams a reality, while Dreamchasers Workshops do so for adults. 

Entrepreneurship: Matthew helped to bring LimeBike to Trinity’s campus, and remains the student liaison. Matthew also works closely with the founder of the Traveling Gentlemen’s Boutique to prepare monthly subscription orders, inventory, and fundraiser outreach. 



Sarah ’19​

Major: Theater and Dance

Academics: Sarah is a Posse Scholar and President’s Fellow who has earned Faculty Honors. The Posse Foundation is a national nonprofit dedicated to changing the face of leadership through college access and youth leadership development, and Trinity has had more than 220 Posse graduates since fall 2002. The Society of President’s Fellows honors one senior from each department and program.

Leadership Activities: Sarah is the Business Director of the Quirks acapella group and Global Ambassador for Trinity La MaMA. She previously served as Public Relations Chair of La Voz Latina, Secretary of Elemental Movement Dance Crew, and Global Ambassador for Trinity in Barcelona.

Real World Preparation: Sarah got a taste of her future career with an internship in the Education Department at the Hartford Stage. After she graduates this spring, she’ll be heading to New York City to work as a Pre-K teacher through Teach for America.
