Ahlgren \u201964 received a B.S. in Engineering from Trinity, the M.S. E. E. from Tulane University, an the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.\u00a0 He joined the Trinity faculty in 1973, served as Engineering Department Chair from 1990-1999, and retired in 2014 as the Karl W. Hallden Professor of Engineering, Emeritus.\u00a0 During Professor Ahlgren\u2019s tenure as department chair the department chartered the Trinity Engineering Advisory Committee and sought and received ABET accreditation, He served as the faculty advisor to the Trinity Robot Study Team from 1995 until his retirement and was Director of the Trinity College Fire-Fighting Home Robot Contest from 1996 \u2013 2014.\u00a0 Professor Ahlgren designed a number of new courses including ENGR 120 (Introduction to Engineering Design\u2014Mobile Robotics), a first year course for prospective engineering majors; ENGR 221L (Digital Circuits and Systems); ENGR 323L (Microprocessor Systems); ENGR 308L (Semiconductor Electronics II); and ENGR 314L (VLSI Design Projects).\u00a0 He is active in the Connecticut Microelectronics and Optoelectronics Consortium, serving with faculty from UConn, Yale, and other Connecticut universities to organize the annual CMOC Symposium since 1992.\u00a0 His interests include analog and digital electronics, simulation and modeling, and educational robotics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David J.
