Counseling and Wellness Center: A free, on-campus safe space to voice mental health and wellness concerns with a professional counselor.

Dean of Students Office: An office equipped to provide students with general counseling and academic advising.

 

Hartford Resources

Connect Ability: A Hartford-based organization that works to remove barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from employment.

Disability Rights Connecticut: A Hartford-based advocacy organization that hosts multiple programs and resources that work to “eliminate the barriers that people with disabilities face in exercising their civil, legal, and human rights.”

MARC Community Resources: Organization and services created to further support and empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

CTGov: Disability Services: An overview of the different Connecticut-government-provided services for individuals with disabilities.

 

Professional Associations and Networking Groups

Job Accommodations Network: Network designed to “help people with disabilities enhance their employability” and showcase their skills to employers.

Workforce Recruitment Program: “A recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector employers nationwide with college students and recent graduates with disabilities” to create employment opportunities.

Mobility International USA: A non-profit organization based in Oregon with programs and a variety of networks aiming to advance the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.

AAAS: Entry Point!: A network built for students with disabilities who express a talent for and interest in a STEM career.

 

Job Search Resources & Search Engines

Career AbilityJobs:  A simple job board dedicated to the employment of people with disabilities.*

Emerging Leaders: A program through NBDC (National Business & Disability Council) that “focuses on matching promising college students with disabilities with Corporate Partners for internships”.

Ability Links: A simple, nationwide job search tool featuring job positions that provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Getting Hired: A job board tailored to supporting the employment of individuals (including veterans) with disabilities.

Inclusively: A job board and search resource that “empowers and employs people with disabilities by using personalized Success Enablers (accommodations) to provide candidates and employers with inclusive solutions.”*

Disability Employment Resource Guide: A guide that covers important topics including job seeking strategies, acts and government resources, language, groups and associations.

Discrimination and Legal Resources

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission: “The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.”

OCR:  The Office of Civil Rights: Website hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that hosts information on and enforces one’s civil rights regarding a large index of topics.

Find Law: Disability Discrimination: Provides an overview of how workplace disability discrimination is legally defined.

AAPD: An advocacy-focused group with programming that aims to improve the lives for people with disabilities.

ADA: A site that provides further information on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
