In addition to course-specific learning goals (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trincoll.edu\/biology\/course-descriptions\/\">Course Descriptions<\/a> for more information), these are some things you can expect from courses at the 100-, 200-, 300-, and 400-levels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>100-level BIOL courses should include most of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic background knowledge\/vocabulary<\/li>\n<li>Learning skills<\/li>\n<li>Graphs\/elementary statistics<\/li>\n<li>Basic lab skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>200-level BIOL courses should include most of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More specialized than 100 level courses<\/li>\n<li>Application of concept-dependent insights<\/li>\n<li>Analytical skills and problem solving<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to primary literature<\/li>\n<li>Labs could involve more statistical analysis and\/or experimental design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>300-level BIOL courses should include most of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Integrate big ideas in biology across subdisciplines<\/li>\n<li>Data Interpretation<\/li>\n<li>Utilization of primary literature<\/li>\n<li>Pre-requisites beyond intro sequence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>400-level BIOL courses should include most of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Examination and presentation of primary papers, interpretations of findings, contextualizing results<\/li>\n<li>Analyzing and critiquing the logic of experiments<\/li>\n<li>Giving clear and accessible oral presentations<\/li>\n<li>Leading discussion of primary literature<\/li>\n<li>Writing about science to the lay audience or non-specialist<\/li>\n<li>Ethics in science and research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What can you expect to learn from a Biology course at Trinity?
