Is it possible to defer my enrollment to Trinity College if I am admitted?<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>Yes, each year several students request a deferred enrollment (otherwise known as a “gap year”) and receive approval.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What is the deadline for requesting a deferred enrollment<\/span><\/span>?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nYou must request a gap year by June 1.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What are the steps to request a gap year?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Confirm your intent to enroll at Trinity by paying the $500 non-refundable <\/span>enrollment deposit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Complete the <\/span>Gap Year Request Form<\/a> <\/span>by the June 1 priority deadline outlining how you intend to spend your year. You will<\/span><\/span> need to use your <\/span>admissions <\/span>applicant status page credentials to access this form.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>If our admissions team has any questions regarding your request for deferred enrollment, we will contact you.<\/li>\n
  3. Once a decision has been made<\/span>,<\/span><\/b> you will receive a formal letter acknowledging your deferral status.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. If approved for a deferral, a few months prior to your new\u00a0start date at Trinity College, you will receive an email asking you to complete a brief statement describing how you spent your gap year.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Can I attend another college <\/span><\/b>full-time<\/span><\/b> during my gap year?<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>No. Our deferred enrollment policy does not permit students to enroll at another college or university as a full-time student. You can take classes as a non-matriculated student, but if you decide to enroll as a matriculated student at another college or university, you must reapply to Trinity as a     transfer student<\/a>. Please note know that your opportunity to matriculate as a student at Trinity is contingent upon successful completion of courses with the same academic standards that won you admission to the College.<\/p>\n

    Can I defer my enrollment to pursue a postgraduate year of education?<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>Yes, you can defer your enrollment to pursue a postgraduate year. Please note that your opportunity to matriculate as a student at Trinity is contingent upon successful completion of courses with the same academic standards that won you admission to the College.<\/p>\n

    Can I defer my enrollment for more than one year?<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>In rare situations, we will approve a deferral request for more than one year. These situations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n

    If I am admitted from the waitlist<\/span><\/b>,<\/span><\/b> can I defer my enrollment?<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>If you are admitted from the waitlist and choose not to accept your place in the class at that time, you are welcome to reapply for admission the following year, but your enrollment cannot be deferred.<\/p>\n

    Can I apply to other colleges during my gap year?<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>If you choose to apply to other colleges or universities, you must also     reapply<\/a> to Trinity College.<\/p>\n

    Do I need to reapply for financial aid?
    \n<\/span><\/span><\/strong>If<\/span> you have applied for financial aid, you will need to <\/span>submit<\/span> updated financial aid documents by <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>February 1 of the year that you intend to enroll.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
