Major/Minor:
Public Policy & Law and Hispanic Studies, Community Action
Why You Chose Trinity:
Trinity gives students the experience of living on a campus in a tight-knit community, while at the same time being within the amazing urban city of Hartford. The professional, educational, and entertainment opportunities that exist on campus and in Hartford make for busy weeks and constant involvement.
Favorite Class:
My favorite class that I have taken at Trinity was the Liberal Arts Action Lab. I worked with a member of the community to create an action plan that outlined how to better address mass migration into Hartford on a similar scale that occurred in 2017 after Hurricane Maria. My group conducted interviews with community members, businesses in Hartford, and officials within city government to create a comprehensive report of what happened after the migration to Hartford and how to avoid similar issues should it happen again.
Favorite Professor:
Professor Falk from the Public Policy and Law department and Professor Williamson from the Political Science department, Public Policy and Law department, and director of CHER.
Extracurricular Activities:
I am a member of Alpha Chi Omega, a Venture Trinity alum and mentor, a member of EAC Barnyard Events Planning Staff, and a member of the Annual Community Events Staff.
What You Love Most About Trinity:
The internship opportunities and cultural diversity that are present on campus and in Hartford are what I love the most about Trinity. As a student here, I receive a global experience all while learning and growing as an individual and a member of the community.
Your Professional Goals/Career Plans:
After my Trinity education, I hope to go abroad and work within diplomacy and international relations.
Favorite Place on Campus:
My favorite place to be on campus is on the main quad right next to the chapel. Studying, reading, or being with friends and classmates is the perfect way to spend any afternoon.
Favorite Place in Hartford:
My favorite place in Hartford is the Hartford Public Library. The library has so many incredible resources that are available.
What’s the most impactful/favorite book you’ve ever read?
My favorite book that I have recently read is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. This story of struggle, immigration, and family is moving and eye opening in today’s world.
What advice do you have for prospective students applying to college?
My advice for students applying to college is to branch out. Meet new people, try new things, and take classes that interest you! College is your time to grow and learn about yourself outside of your hometown setting. Give yourself the chance to find out about yourself and get life experience that will stay with you forever!
What’s one thing you wish you knew before coming to college?
One thing I wish I knew before coming to college was that it’s okay to go undecided. This is your chance to take new and interesting classes that haven’t be available to you in high school. Explore and find the subjects that appeal most to you – you’ll never regret taking a fun class outside of your major or minor!
What is your perfect day on campus?
My perfect day on campus starts out with a trip to Peter B’s, the coffee shop in the library. After doing a bit of homework curled up in the comfy couches on the third floor of the lib, I’ll make my way to the bistro for lunch. Later in the afternoon, one of the many clubs on campus will surely be hosting an event where I can meet up with friends, eat, listen to music, and relax. There is never a lack of things to do on campus!
