Parents + Families

Through high quality advising and carefully selected program options, Trinity College Study Away contributes to the college’s mission of providing students with a well-rounded liberal arts education that extends beyond the classroom.  There is a wide variety of study away programs and Trinity College is selective in the ones that are approved for our students.

Trinity College offers best-in-class study away advising, staffed by highly-experienced advisors who are committed to helping each student choose a destination and program that they will get the most out of academically, professionally, and personally.  All students are assigned to a Study Away Advisor who helps them through every step of the process, including while they are away and when they return, so students always know who to contact to find answers to their questions.

During the advising process, each student actively engages in discussions with their study away advisor,  to help them choose a program that aligns with their interests and goals. This approach gives students the best possible chance of having an experience that will contribute to their success after graduation while also developing lasting friendships and mentorships with like-minded students and faculty members.

Often times, a semester studying away is the first time for a student to be away from home for a length of time and to be responsible for themselves.  This is an exciting experience for them and we like to start fostering that independence and responsibility from the very start with the program selection and application process.

Trinity Students

Most students choose to study on one of the Trinity College programs, which have been intentionally designed to integrate with, and extend, their Trinity educational experience.  The Trinity programs are located in Barcelona,
Cape Town, New York City, Paris, Trinidad, Rome, Shanghai, and Vienna. They provide students with outstanding academic experiences that are deeply integrated into the host cities as well as co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that can be customized to the needs of individual students. Examples include internships, service learning placements,  volunteerships, and structured social activities, such as playing on a local sports team or organized events with local students or host families.

In addition to the Trinity programs, students can choose from nearly 75 approved external programs that have been selected because they have academic and extracurricular strengths that complement a Trinity College education.

Visiting Students

Trinity College welcomes visiting students from other institutions who are intersted in studying on our programs in Barcelona, New York City, Paris, Rome, Trinidad and Vienna.  Specific program information, including applications, dates and deadlines can be found on the specific program pages of this website.

Studying away is a big step toward independence for your student and you can help to foster this growth by showing support, interest and understanding.  Providing assistance with logistics while expressing confidence in your students judgement and abilities is the best way to show your support.  We look forward to working with you and your student to answer your questions and give you both the information and resources  needed for a successful experience studying away.
