Ian Robinson '16 was awarded the first Thomas Urban China student research grant to carry out a field study in the commodity market in the city of Yiwu in the Zhejiang province, China. Dubbed the "world's supermarket," Yiwu is the world's largest hub for buying and selling small merchandise including Christmas decorations and plastic toys. The field trip allowed Ian to complete an Honors thesis in International (Asian) Studies in spring 2016.

Hamna Tariq '20 received a Thomas Urban China student research grant for a field study of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in her hometown of Lahore and other Pakistani cities. CPEC is the flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
