Two Seniors Dedicate Musical Performance to Trinity Professor

Davis Kim '15 and Destin Dopwell '15 Perform Fauré's "Sicilienne"
Hartford, CT, June 26, 2015  - As part of his senior recital, pianist Davis Kim ’15, performed a duet with flutist Destin Dopwell ’15 of “Sicilienne” by Gabriel Fauré. The students dedicated the song to Gail Woldu, professor of music at Trinity College, who Kim says “nurtured a deep and enduring love for the music of French composers, and more specifically, of the music of Fauré.”

Fauré was one of the foremost French composers of his generation in the turn of the 19th century. He was also an organist, pianist, and teacher.

“The [dedication was a gesture] of undying thanks to the person who showed us how true, honest passion could manifest itself in academia,” Kim said about Woldu. “Her seminar was probably one of the most memorable classes I have taken at Trinity, and it would not have been possible without the dedication that she showed, not only to the material, but also to her students. I am very lucky to have been able to take a class with her, and I know that it’s an experience I will carry throughout my life.”
