Erik Bloomquist ’14 Directs the Rock Musical Based on the 1988 Cult Film

​Hartford, Connecticut, April 27, 2017 – “Heathers: The Musical” will be performed April 27-29 in Austin Arts Center’s Goodwin Theater at Trinity College.

“Heathers: The Musical” is set in Westerberg High, which is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing junta of Heather, Heather, and Heather, the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio. But misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their evil regime for a new boyfriend, the dark and sexy stranger J.D., who plans to put the Heathers in their place – six feet under.

Book, music, and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy. Based on the film written by Daniel Waters. Stage direction by Erik Bloomquist ’14, musical direction by Thomas C. Buckley and Paul Tine, and choreography by Erik Bloomquist ’14 and Maggie Powderly ’18.

“Heathers: The Musical” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC. The production is presented by the Department of Music. Performances are free and open to the public. Tickets are required; call the Austin Arts Center box office at 860-297-2199.
