Hartford, Connecticut, September 9, 2015

The event, featuring interactive expo booths, prizes and giveaways, refreshments, and entertainment, is free and has been organized by the Student Affairs Division, the Office of the President, and the Recreation Office, with collaboration from several offices and organizations across campus (listed below), student volunteers, and representatives of the Jordan Porco Foundation. Prizes that students will have chances to win include a large flat-screen television, a tablet computer, and a $250 certificate for the Trinity Bookstore.

When: Friday, September 11, 2015, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Where: The Main Quad
(Rain location: Washington Room, Mather Hall)

Background: This is Trinity’s first Fresh Check Day, and the College is pleased to join other area schools, such as Connecticut College and UConn, in hosting the event. Christina Knight, area coordinator for Vernon Street in the Office of Residential Life, said that Fresh Check Day aims to create a fun, celebratory event to bring awareness of mental health resources and coping strategies to college campuses. Knight said she anticipates the event will help get the word out that “we’re all here to support each other,” and noted that other schools have seen a significant increase in students seeking resources after learning about them at a Fresh Check Day event.
