College Archives

The College Archives holds approximately 2300 linear feet of documentary material related to Trinity. Established in 1972, the Archives is located in the Watkinson Library, the special collections division of the Trinity College Library.

There are two broad categories of material in the College Archives: general and administrative records; and records relating to students, faculty, staff and alumni.


General and Administrative Records:

  • Material concerning the College's founding in 1823 and its relocation from downtown Hartford to the Summit Campus in 1878, descriptions of the campus, and data on College buildings
  • Architectural drawings and records
  • Photographs, including portraits of alumni, faculty, staff and trustees; views of Trinity, including
  • College buildings, campus events, undergraduate organizations, and athletic teams
  • Official College publications
  • Administrative reports and general records
  • Minutes and reports of the Faculty and of selected Faculty committees
  • Minutes and reports of the Board of Trustees
  • Papers of Trinity's presidents


Records Relating to Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni:

  • Undergraduate campus publications, selected undergraduate research papers, senior and masters theses, and scrapbooks kept by undergraduates and alumni
  • Records relating to athletic competition and to student organizations and activities
  • Biographical data on deceased alumni, 1827 to the mid-20th century, including honorary degree recipients
  • Publications by and about Trinity faculty, staff and alumni
  • Papers of faculty and alumni
