Vision and Mission Statements   

Trinity College is committed to enhancing environm​ental awareness, responsibility, and sustainability throughout the College community. The principles of environmental sustainability are central to many College activities, and by integrating these principles into several aspects of its operations, planning, and policy, Trinity enhances its ability to promote sustainable efforts on the campus. Organizations such as Buildings and Grounds, the Community Service and Civic Engagement Office, Green Campus, ConnPIRG, Action Coalition of Trinity (ACT), and Trinity Sustainability Coalition (TSC) collaborate to establish a more environmentally aware community.

Trinity College will strive to produce students, faculty and staff who are environmentally aware and whose actions adhere to principles of sustainability. Trinity shall set an example of responsible environmental stewardship through its ongoing commitment to incorporate sustainable practices into its daily decision-making processes and support resource conservation, reduction of waste and pollution, recycling, minimizing our environmental footprint, and investing in the local community.

In order to realize this mission, Trinity College will endeavor to:

  • Reduce consumption of natural resources including food, energy, and water
  • Establish and enforce environmentally sustainable practices and procedures for designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and grounds
  • Reduce the use of toxic substances
  • Promote the use of renewable, reusable, recyclable, and recycled materials
  • Reduce waste and increase recycling
  • Safeguard environmental health and safety on campus and in the surrounding community 
  • Support transportation alternatives and carpooling to using personal vehicles​
  • Adhere to standards set by the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment
