CRITICAL REACTION PAPERS

The weekly 2-3 page Critical Reaction Papers in this course to are designed to help prepare you to participate in class. These papers are critical responses to homework assignments (not summaries). In order to write a successful critical paper, the following points are helpful to remember.

  • You should have an underlined thesis argument / focus for each paper.

  • Your writing should be as concise as possible since these are short essays.

  • Short quotations may be included. (Use parenthetical documentation).

  • You are encouraged to connect your focus to other course readings, previous classes you have attended, campus lectures, study abroad, international news events, etc., and especially to think critically about these connections.

All writing assignments must be typed and double spaced using a font comparable to Times New Roman 11-12 or Arial 11. Papers with numerous typos (more than 5) will NOT BE ACCEPTED.  You MUST check the spelling and grammar with computer software designed for this purpose.

These papers   will be graded based on your individual work and any failure to cite sources will be considered a violation of academic honor codes.

Due dates for all papers apply whether you come to class or not, at the BEGINNING of that particular class. Any paper you hand in after the beginning of class will result in a 10% grade reduction for each delay (from class to class).

MIDTERM & FINAL PAPERS
