Over the course of my career as a research scientist I have undertaken numerous projects, both theoretical and experimental, in widely different areas of physics. Among these are contributions to atomic physics and nuclear physics, optics and electrodynamics, thermal and statistical physics, and most recently astrophysics and gravitation. In the following sections I sketch briefly a few of the projects that I believe made at the time pioneering advances in their fields.
