Research interests: Russian theater; Russian avant-garde art, architecture, poetry, theater, especially the work of Vladimir Mayakovsky; the reception of nineteenth-century notions of progress in Russian culture at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries; the great classic writers Gogol and Dostoevsky; performance art, specifically living statues/tableaux vivants in European and American cultures.
