Spring flora and fauna:

flowers pop and Greek gardeners get out their pruning shears

More on the natural history front:  here is what we see now, at the end of March:

A building of the British School of Archaeology,  seen from the American School garden.

(right) Lemon tree and bushes in garden of Loring Hall, after severe pruning last week to remove dead leaves and fruit from the February snowstorm -- naked stalks!  Will there be lemons next winter?

Notice how the ground is raked clear of all organic matter:  composting is still a foreign concept here!

(left)  A lemon tree outside Loring Hall - some leaves are coming back!

However, there are some bright spots amid the brutal spring pruning!

(at right) American School garden, behind the library.  Our Easter lamb will be roasted here!

Green shoots and white blossoms

Yellow flowers in the park

...and I've had to keep the kitchen fan running constantly, to keep a pair of determined sparrows from nesting in it!
