On the bus

Every day on the bus we have a lot of fun. Actually it's one of the most fun times on a school day. There are a few people you need to know about before I can explain the complicated rituals and routines of our every day bus life. Tina who sits across from me, Nic who sits diagonally across from me, Victor who sits behind me, Alan who sits next to Victor and KiereaFilo. KiereaFilo is our bus monitor. She is nice but a bit strict when we're too loud. She lets us eat and drink on the bus!

Now, when I normally get on the bus, Victor is sitting in my place so I sit in front of him until Alan gets on. When he gets on, Victor and I both move back a seat. It takes a while in the morning for the fun to get started as we all get on the bus at different times. For a little while (until Nic gets on) I only do something with Tina and Alan talks to Victor. When Nic gets gets on it's a totally different story. He gets us laughing and talking loudly by acting stupid and saying things. It's like sometimes Ms. Crossland explains something in Math and he goes "wow!" in his stupid voice that makes everyone laugh. KiereaFilo gets so annoyed with us she comes back to us and threatens to separate us. That keeps us quiet- for a few minutes. Ten minutes later we're as loud (or louder) as we were before. When we get to Byron we get off and separate to be with our own friends and do a hard days work with few laughs in it (except at recess with Anna and Fatima). Then we get back on the bus to celebrate the end of the school day by being louder than in the morning when we were tired from getting up so early. This is when we tell stories, play games and just mess around. Some games we play are hot potato blindfolded with an empty ice tea can, keep away with a piece of paper and news reporter with the other kids being the people and things we are reporting on. Some things we talk about are movies, exams, the dreams we've had and secrets. When we just mess around we try to make each other say things like ''apple'' while holding their tongue, listen to music, spy on the big kids at the back of the bus, play a game where we have to sing a song, another game where you have to hold your breath for the longest amount of time, say the alphabet as many times as possible without taking a breath and games where we write things down on paper. When Nic gets off we still have fun because of Alan. When Alan gets off it tends to calm down. We still have a lot of fun but it's quiet. I think KiereaFilo blesses this moment. It's normally fun, but on Fridays it's the most fun because sometimes a boy called Mahmoud comes on and sits next to Alan. Then Victor has to sit next to Nic but he doesn't care because it is soooooo funny because of Mahmoud and Alan. Yes, I love being on the bus. There is only one bad thing. The bus smells and I get bus sick. Yuck!
