This colloquium follows on my First-Year Seminar for fall 1996, "Orientalism." In a series of meetings in the spring, we will design a film series exploring the use of orientalist themes in films. Each film will be open to the broader campus community and will be followed by a discussion led by members of the colloquium, who will also be responsible for selecting the films and organizing and advertising the showings.
