Hi Everybody!
It’s me Alison. I’ve wanted to say hello for ages, but mom and dad didn’t set up the website that quickly. Nothing really exciting has been going on around here, just looking around the neighborhood.
But, we’ve explored our house and it’s really kool with a
K because well, you know what C.O.O.L. means. Well anyway, back to the house.
Well, first of all, we have a backdoor in our basement which, if you ask me is
pretty weird. On the ground floor is normal except for 3 things: a Maid
Service button in the living room, the Maid Service bells in the kitchen, and a
bathroom on the ground floor where we really need one because we didn't have one
in Connecticut.
There is marble everywhere! The mountains are made of it, so it's really easy for the Greeks to get. Our steps are made out of it, and so is the fireplace in mom and dad's room.
On the second floor, there are two doors. If you take the left door, you get to Caroline and my room. We have to share a room -- I can't believe it. Both sides are really different. Caroline is really messy; she spreads stuff all around because she likes to see it all. My side of the room is neat. We have a Maid Service button. Our Aunt Ellen said that our mom should answer it when we press the button, because she's not working this year. (Mom said Aunt Ellen should shut up. ) We have a shared bathroom with our mom and dad. They have a maid service button also, but no one to answer it! Our rooms are the only rooms that are air conditioned, so whenever it's hot, we come up and play in our room. Once a week, the maid comes in and cleans the house and changes the sheets.
We have a huge garden. There is a strange tree down in our second garden that's still growing, but it's bent over so Caroline and I can sit on it. When you go down the steps from our second garden, there's a gate that you have to lock every time you go in or out.
Across the street is the American School that our dad's going to work at. It has a computer room where we check our e-mail everyday. There are cats everywhere in Athens! I've seen tons, more than twelve! There is a cat at the library and it's always following us around. It's tame, and its name is Pandora. Caroline says it's been there for four years. I've also seen a lot of dogs, but not as many as cats.
I don't have a lot of information because school hasn't started yet, so when school starts I'll have a lot of things to tell you. Bye! -- Alison (September 1, 2003)
