Our camp site at Keet Seel.  Yep, that's Erika surviving another icy night in a crappy sleeping bag. The first group hikes over to the ruins.
Keet Seel ruins.
We wake up early and meet Roger, our ranger, who gives us a tour of Keet Seel. The ruins are amazing, and we spend about three quarters of an hour exploring them under Roger's watchful eye.

The hike out seems to go a lot faster than yesterday's trip. We stay down in the canyon and follow the river, which means we save the 1000 or so feet up for last. Annie and Samantha decide to take a little side trip, three extra miles down the canyon (hard to imagine, considering the huge, telephone pole sized trail markers) but get rescued by a friendly Navajo rancher. At lunchtime we are all back at the van and ready for a shower.

Luckily, the tiny town of Bluff provides groceries, laundry and a shower. Samantha and I are best friends again.

The way back from Keet Seel.
Aah, watermelon has never tasted that good! Volcanic rocks near Kayenta. Clothes tree at Sand Island.
