Our campsite in the morning.
We start the day with an exercise in desert plants.  A few line transects later and we establish that we are camping out amidst creosote, yucca and a lot of other small stuff. We might not remember the plants, but know how to use the field guides, and that's a start!
Jason and Beth go AWOL for a few hours on a hour long hike. Jason claims that the lizards led them astray...
We spend the afternoon in a semi- ghost town a few miles east, which turns out to be a major tourist trap.  Two saloons, plenty of antique stores and a gold mine as scenic backdrop. Oh, yes, plenty of tourists too.

We visit a semi-ghost town and tourist trap... Jeff, Mark and Steve in the local saloon. Beth did it again - best salsa on the trip.
